Reflections in Ponies is a series of handmade, brightly glazed ceramic ponies that differ in shape and color. Each pony carries a short sentence or word that refers to situations in which I have critically questioned my behavior in hindsight. These ponies represent moments when I took myself too seriously or doubted my actions in everyday situations. They reflect my inner process of self-criticism – questioning my actions to learn from them and to approach things differently, perhaps with more ease, the next time. The ponies are not just an expression of my personal reflection; they also invite the viewer to see themselves in these thoughts. Many of us are familiar with those inner dialogues and doubts about whether we acted the right way. These sculptures draw attention to the universal human experience of going through such thought processes. They remind us that self-criticism is an important part of personal growth – but also that we should avoid the trap of being too harsh on ourselves. Instead, they encourage us to question our actions, learn from them, and take the next step with greater awareness and lightness.
